Portfolio Game

I am making my portfolio for game/web design?

I am wondering what I should put in it. I want to be a game programmer, so I am going to include my best C++ coding and I also might become a web designer before that. What kind of things would help me stand out- knowing how to use more programs? Like I know how to model should I put that in there or just get right to the point. Should web design and programming be seperate portfolios or should I show that I can do more than just that one skill Thanks for helping me improve my future and achieve my goals.
